Gamuda's Australian Expansion: Securing Contracts Worth Over RM8 Billion
KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 18): Gamuda Bhd, a prominent Malaysian construction company, has announced a significant milestone in its international expansion. On Thursday, the company revealed that it has secured two substantial contracts in Australia, bringing its total value to over RM8 billion. These contracts showcase Gamuda's growing presence in the Australian market and its expertise in various sectors.
The first contract, valued at RM7.32 billion, involves the Sydney Metro West project. Gamuda's Australian subsidiary, Gamuda Engineering Pty Ltd, has been awarded the design-and-construct contract for the Stations Package West by Sydney Metro, the procurement entity for the New South Wales government. This project entails the construction of five metro stations: Westmead, North Strathfield, Burwood North, Five Dock, and The Bays. The scope of work includes station structures, entrances, fit-out, transport integration, and public domain works, with planning and detailed design set to commence in January 2026 and major construction works starting in late 2026 or early 2027, aiming for completion by May 2031.
The second contract, worth RM718 million, is for the Carmody's Hill Wind Farm project in South Australia. DT Infrastructure Pty Ltd, another Australian subsidiary of Gamuda, will provide civil works, including turbine foundations, access roads, drainage, crane hardstands, earthworks, underground cable routes, and site preparation. Construction is expected to begin in early 2026 and be completed within 28 months.
These recent contract wins contribute to Gamuda's impressive order book, which has reached a record high of RM46 billion. This achievement comes on the heels of Gamuda's previous announcement of a Marinus Link undersea cable contract win worth RM2.7 billion, further solidifying its position as a leading player in the construction industry. With its growing portfolio in rail, renewable energy, and utilities infrastructure, Gamuda is not only exceeding its own targets but also establishing itself as a key player in the Australian market.
The company's success in Australia highlights its ability to secure substantial contracts and its commitment to delivering high-quality projects. As Gamuda continues to expand its international footprint, it is poised to make significant contributions to the development of critical infrastructure in various countries.
