Despite initial box office estimates falling short of expectations, the sci-fi sequel is projected to outperform during its second weekend in theaters. Industry analysts predict it will rake in between $55 million and $65 million over the traditional weekend, and a substantial $75 million to $80 million over the extended holiday period. This represents a 30% drop, a significantly stronger hold compared to its predecessor, The Way of Water, which experienced a 52% decline in its second weekend.
Despite earning $45 million less than its predecessor in its opening weekend, Avatar: Fire and Ash may have stronger legs. The film's potential to surpass $2 billion worldwide, like its predecessors, remains uncertain. Box office analysts remain skeptical, but history has shown that Cameron's films defy predictions.

Cameron, when asked about a potential fourth Avatar film, stated, 'We're getting ahead of ourselves because we must first prove the business case. The theatrical landscape has changed, and it's been a challenging year. Recent releases like Wicked: For Good and Zootopia 2 have shown signs of improvement, so we'll see.'
